Bringing Jesus to the world...
John 3:16 tells us that "God so loved the world that He gave His only Son..." In the Great Commission, we are commanded to "make disciples of all nations..." God leaves little doubt that He expects us to spread the good news of Jesus--as individual believers, and as His church at MBC.
Experiencing that at MBC is an area where we are continuing to grow in our understanding and our practice, but a rich variety of opportunities already exist. Here are some of them.
The Missions Team
MBC's Missions Team is a team of volunteers dedicated to seeing that the church has an impact far beyond our local communities. They administer a missions budget which is typically about 25% of the total spent by the church each year, funding long-term support of almost 30 missionary "world partners" in other countries throughout the world, another 10 -12 missionaries located in the United States, and a wide range of other missions agencies, both domestic and international. The team also maintains contact with these world partners, distributing newsletters, celebrating birthdays, and otherwise making those "on the field" seem more connected with us back home.
Our Senegal focus
During 2006, our Missions Team spent many meetings in prayer and study of adopting a particular "focus" for our missions concerns as a church. With help from career missionaries living in this area, the Missions Team determined that the country of Senegal would be our church's missions focus. That decision has helped the entire MBC family relate to this particular country, with its diverse people groups and very active missions programs. Week-long missions trips have taken place in April 2007, January 2008, February 2009, and more are scheduled.
Short-term missions trips
Besides the trips to Senegal, there are other trips that individuals or groups have taken and will continue to. Our teens have been to
Chincha, Peru several times, and for the past three summers have worked at a church and community center in Kermit, West Virginia. Other members spend their vacation time visiting and working alongside of some of our world partners in various countries around the world.
Supporting missions agencies in the metropolitan area
One of the great benefits of supporting local missions work is the opportunity they provide not only for financial support, but also for hands-on involvement in the work they are doing. MBC has five local missions agencies that we support, and our members contribute in various ways to the work of each one. They are:

The majority of our international "world partners" are afilliated with WorldVenture, the international missions board of the Conservative Baptist Association. Formerly known as the Conservative Baptist Foreign Missions Service, and then CBInternational, WorldVenture is the "sending agency" for about 700 missionaries outside the US, working in partnership with local churches like MBC to assist us in identifying and supporting many of them. Community Outreach Programs
MBC takes seriously the call to reach the communities where we live for our Lord, and looks for creative ways to reach out with our Savior's love to those around us. Our church has made serving at the Basking Ridge Charter Day, held each May, a major priority, as we help with set-up and clean-up and take care of trash bins and recycling containers during the six-hour event. Other members have been involved in Long Hill Township's celebration days; still others have worked with Habitat for Humanity in building homes in Bernardsville.
