Being Jesus to each other...
As a community of believers, we at MBC seek to be "in authentic relationships within God's family." God doesn't just want us to know Him deeply; He also wants us to know each other in terms that are open and honest, and to be ready to serve each other whenever the need and opportunities arise. As we strive to imitate the attitudes and actions of our Lord, in effect we become Him in our relationships with each other, freeing us to "be Jesus" as we love, care and serve one another.
MBC provides many opportunities to do that--one-on-one friendships, small group experiences, and serving opportunities which help us meet the needs of individuals, families, and whole groups within the church, such as our children, teens, and seniors. Come be a part of our Family, and discover how fulfilled we become when we try to "be Jesus" to each other.
Some of the best ways to get connected and to experience Jesus' love through others here at MBC are our Women's, Men's, and Seniors' ministries. There are many others, however--here are some of them:
Small Groups ("Circles")
Twice each month, from October through June, groups of adults gather in homes of group leaders or other members for times of study, fellowship, fun and mutual support. Each Circle determines its own schedule, study topics, and mix of activities. If you are interested in becoming part of a Circle, click here.
Fellowship and Hospitality
When we gather in large groups, whether on Sunday mornings or for special events like congregational meetings or our Summer Connections luncheons, it always helps that someone is there to have the coffee ready or whatever else helps to make the time more pleasant and helps us to know each other better. Our Fellowship and Hospitality teams are the ones who make all this happen "behind the scenes."
Deacon/Deaconess Team
Our team of Deacons and Deaconesses stays alert to any personal needs that members of our MBC family may have--health, unemployment, finances, or any other--and come alongside to provide comfort and care, and arrange for volunteers to help out in any way that they can. This can include bringing meals, repairing or maintaining houses or yards, providing transportation or helping with shopping--anything that can make the burden a little easier to carry.
Prayer Chain
When an urgent need for prayer comes up in one our family member's life, they have a team of volunteers who can be called--at any hour--to go to our Heavenly Father in prayer for that person. To learn more about how you can take advantage of this, click here.
Shepherd's Freezer
One of the arms of our Women's Ministries is the Shepherd's Freezer--a program of having volunteer cooks throughout our family bringing regular contributions of frozen meals, which are stored and made available to families and individuals with short-term needs for help with meals. This can be after the birth of a child, or during periods of illness or after hospitalization--any time that having a lovingly prepared, easy to fix meal makes a big difference.
Couple-to-Couple Relationship Mentoring
When two people are considering marriage, it's a big help to be able to meet, talk and pray with others who have already been walking that road. Our Couple-to-Couple ministry arranges for married couples to spend time with those who are engaged or considering engagement, and provides materials to work through together to help prepare them for this big step in their lives.
